georgiannakrieger This is high energy straight-ahead jazz with a contemporary vocabulary that never looses its shine. Nicole Mc Cabe's dazzling alto work is expressive and distinct. Favorite track: You've Changed.

nederlanditis This is on eye level with the greatest and best alto-4tet recordings out there. You would not wonder, well it is impossible, finding van Gelder mentioned on the backside. Simply magnificent. Herald her name. Favorite track: Instinct.

about

Recorded the day before she moved to LA, "Introducing Nicole McCabe" is a collection of original music that alto-saxophonist Nicole McCabe wrote in Portland, Oregon, with the guidance of her mentors.

Featuring musical appearances/collaborations from heavy hitters Alan Jones, George Colligan, Charlie Porter, and Jon Lakey.

--

A quartet leader, composer, and music educator, Nicole got her start as a saxophonist in Portland while studying at Portland State University’s Jazz Studies program. She began integrating herself into live performance and Portland’s kinetic jazz community well before she graduated. Since then, she has shared stages and festival bills with the likes of Nicole Glover, Carmen Lundy, Steve Wilson, Randy Porter, Chuck Israels, George Colligan, and Kandace Springs. Nicole began leading her own quartet in 2018, eventually leading one at the Portland Jazz Festival in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Nicole is now pursuing a Master's in Jazz at USC's Thornton School of Music.
